Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
This policy describes how Moji collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Japanese vocabulary learning app.
No Account Required
Moji does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the app. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or any other directly identifying information.
Information Stored on Your Device
The following information is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers:
- Your learning progress, review history, and spaced repetition schedule
- Study preferences (JLPT levels, topics, daily card count, retention target)
- Onboarding responses (experience level, motivations, referral source)
- Notification settings and speech preferences
- Words you have favorited
This data lives in Apple's on-device storage. It is not backed up to our infrastructure and is removed when you delete the app.
Anonymous Analytics
We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics that help us improve the app, such as which features are used, onboarding completion, and paywall interactions. These events are not linked to your identity and do not contain the contents of your study sessions. No personal information is sent to PostHog.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Moji Premium is processed through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status and manage entitlements. Apple and RevenueCat may receive anonymous transaction identifiers necessary to validate your purchase. We do not receive or store your payment details, credit card information, or Apple ID. Please review Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for their respective practices.
Push Notifications
If you opt in, Moji sends local daily reminders to help you keep your streak. These notifications are scheduled on-device and do not involve a remote server or tracking.
Permissions We Do Not Request
Moji does not access your camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, location, or health data.
Children's Privacy
Moji does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app does not collect personally identifying information from any user, it is suitable for learners of all ages.
Your Rights
Because your learning data stays on your device, you already have full control over it. You can reset your progress or remove all data by deleting the app. If you have questions about your data or this policy, contact us using the address below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
